Job Description

CEDA is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our Finance Team and play a key role in our success! Based in either Fort McMurray or Edmonton, this role offers the opportunity to sharpen your analytical skills, dive into complex accounting challenges, and collaborate with teams at all levels of the organization.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide the General Managers and site leadership their monthly financial statements, key metrics and job cost statements and address inquiries as they arise
  • Provide additional insights and build forecasts by using various accounting data points, historical reports, and CEDA's field ticketing system (FieldFX)
  • Prepare, review and analyze monthly profit & loss statements and project reports to ensure the timeliness and integrity of the region's financial results
  • Support in preparation of consolidated regional annual budget, monthly forecast and monthly financial scorecard; this includes working with various levels of regional leadership to understand key business drivers and provide insightful variance commentary.
  • Complete journal entries (using Microsoft AX), profit & loss review, reports, accruals and reconciliation administration for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
  • Update the regional reporting model based on data from Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Prepare analysis and reports as requested by General Managers and the regional Vice President. This includes project reporting, margin analysis, cost reviews, revenue by customer, various others as required
  • Troubleshoot Field FX and accounting software issues and project adjustments as needed
  • Work with Contracts and Account Receivable teams on any project billing or costing discrepancies
  • Other duties as assigned

Role Specifications

  • 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a project accountant, accountant, or cost analyst position is required
  • Direct experience with financial and project accounting applications including ERP and Field ticketing systems is considered an asset
  • Excel capabilities
    • Strong grasp on writing formulas (IF statements, vlookup and xlookup).
    • Experience with power queries, pivot tables and using Power BI is considered an asset but not required
  • Business diploma or a University degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is required
  • Working towards a CPA designation is an asset
  • Knowledge of oil and gas, energy or industrial service industries is an asset
