Position Summary

As a Porter in our Building Services department, you'll maintain a clean and organized environment across all CBN facilities. Your role will involve performing general cleaning activities, and moving materials within production areas. This position is ideal for motivated self-starters looking to advance to skilled trade positions within the company.

Job Description

What You Will Do

  • Perform general cleaning activities such as sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, polishing floors, cleaning windows, removing garbage, collecting recycling, and stocking supplies.

  • Maintain the entire building, including administrative rooms, meeting rooms, common areas, cafeterias, locker rooms, and washrooms.

  • Move materials (goods on pallets) within specified production areas using carts, pallet jacks, mobile hydraulic lifts, and forklifts.

  • Ensure departments are stocked with required materials and transport finished goods to designated areas.

  • Adapt to dynamic daily tasks based on production demands and building traffic.

  • Prepare meeting rooms and client visit areas.

  • Various other duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience using carts, pallet jacks, mobile hydraulic lifts, and forklifts (on-the-job training provided)

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to thrive through changing priorities

  • Proven excellent attendance record

Mandatory Requirements

  • Ability to work all shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends)

  • The job is physically demanding and requires:

    • Continuous standing and walking for 95% of shift

    • Bending, lifting/ lowering, pushing/ pulling

    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis

    • Physical capability to climb up and down ladders

    • Working in an environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud (ear protection provided when required).

  • Comfortable handling hazardous waste

Security Clearance Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) clearance
