As aHumanities Project-Based Learning (PBL) Teacher, you will guide students through an exciting, hands-on, and inquiry-based learning journey, helping them develop critical 21st-century skills while embracing creativity, collaboration, and curiosity.
As a PBL Humanities Teacher at QMS, you will:
- Design and Facilitate Meaningful Projects: Develop real-world, inquiry-based projects that allow students to explore critical topics in humanities, including social justice, history, culture, and global issues. These projects will inspire students to ask big questions and engage deeply with the material.
- Encourage Student Ownership of Learning: Empower students to take ownership of their learning through goal setting, research, and project planning. Your guidance will help students become independent thinkers, researchers, and problem-solvers.
- Foster Collaboration and Communication: Create an environment that promotes collaboration, where students work together, share ideas, and solve problems. Help them develop crucial communication and teamwork skills needed for success in the modern world.
- Inspire Creativity and Curiosity: Cultivate an atmosphere where curiosity thrives, sparking a desire in students to explore new ideas, think critically about societal issues, and approach problems with innovative solutions.
- Integrate Cross-Disciplinary Learning: Work alongside co-teachers from STEM and other disciplines to design cross-curricular projects that connect humanities with other subjects, showing students the interconnectedness of knowledge and real-world applications.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelors Degree (required).
- Graduate of a recognized B.Ed. program, with a focus on Humanities, English, or Social Studies for Middle or Senior School grade levels.
- Knowledge of BC Curriculum requirements for Grade 8 and 9 Humanities or Social Studies or English
- Must have or be eligible to obtain British Columbia teaching certification.
- At least 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a student-centered learning environment.
- Experience with project-based learning and cross-curricular teaching (preferred).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and support students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt to meet the diverse needs of students.
