Location: Waterloo, ON (Hybrid onsite an average of 2-3 days per week)

What Youll Be Doing:

As our Accountant, youll report to the Director, Finance and play a critical role in maintaining our financial health. Your key responsibilities will include

Core Accounting & Financial Operations

Perform daily accounting functions, including payables/receivables, invoicing, intercompany reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and CRA remittances
Manage the corporate card system and employee expense tracking using Float

Own the month-end close process, ensuring all reconciliations and journal entries are completed accurately and on time
Prepare working papers monthly to support journal entries and account balances
Assist the Director, Finance in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and Board report preparation as needed
Support the annual audit process, including working paper preparation and liaising with auditors

Payroll & Compliance

Handle semi-monthly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with legislative and internal policies
Perform monthly reconciliation of taxable benefits to ensure accurate reporting
Track and process payroll adjustments for raises, promotions, new hires, and terminations
Maintain financial process documentation and ensure best practices are followed

Government & Special Projects Support

Prepare financial reports for government-funded programs and special projects
Assist with grant applications and audits for federal, provincial, and municipal programs
Work with other teams to support key financial metrics and performance reporting

What You Bring to the Table:

Education & Experience:

  • A post-secondary degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation (or working towards one) is a strong asset
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in accounting and/or financial management
  • Payroll experience is a plus!

Tech-Savvy & Adaptable:

  • Youre proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and comfortable working with cloud-based financial tools
  • Experience withXero, Plooto, Float, and Wagepoint is highly preferredor you're eager to learn!

  • You take initiative, are eager to grow, and love improving processes
  • You thrive in ateam environment and enjoy problem-solving
  • You have strongwritten and verbal communication skills
