Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee the HR functions for a fast-paced and rapidly growing global software development company. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the HR Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the HR function, including recruitment, benefits administration, staffing reports, employee relations, personnel file management, and other HR-related activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervision: Supervise HR department team member(s) and collaborate in a team environment to accomplish responsibilities.
  • HR Metrics & Reporting: Develop, track, and maintain critical company HR metrics, including executive dashboards, vacation management, recruitment statistics, headcount analysis, and market trends.
  • Culture & Retention: Foster and promote a positive company culture while driving employee retention initiatives.
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with the CFO to support and execute corporate key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Recruitment & Staffing: Oversee the full recruitment process, including creating position profiles, managing job postings across various platforms, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, and providing input for final hiring decisions.
  • Onboarding: Lead the onboarding process for all new hires to ensure a seamless and positive integration into the company.
  • HR Policies & Initiatives: Assist in the development and implementation of HR initiatives, policies, and standard operating procedures. Participate in forward planning related to personnel programs and emerging trends in human resource management.
  • Employee Benefits Administration: Oversee the administration of employee benefit programs, including, but not limited to: health, dental, vision, RRSP, DPSP, Simple IRA plans.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with applicable global employment laws and regulations.
  • Performance Management: Coordinate and support employee performance appraisal processes, including feedback and goal-setting.
  • Training & Development: Identify training needs across the organization and create a company-wide training plan and tracking of training records.
  • Job Descriptions: Maintain and update job descriptions to reflect current responsibilities and expectations.
  • Employee Support: Address employee inquiries and provide support on HR-related matters.
  • Special Projects: Lead or participate in special HR projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Educational Background: Post-secondary education with a focus on Human Resources, CPHR designation (or working towards it), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years experience required.
  • Industry Experience: Proven experience in the software industry; experience in the medical space is a plus.
  • Global HR Knowledge: Strong understanding of HR regulations in Canada, experience with other international jurisdictions such as USA, Brazil, the UK, European and Asian jurisdictions a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of HR management.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • HRIS Knowledge: Familiarity with BambooHR is beneficial.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to create and enforce processes across departments and geographies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering actionable solutions.
  • Self-Motivation: Highly self-motivated, proactive, energetic, and adaptable to change.
  • Pressure Handling: Capable of working effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
