Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Programs and Services Community Programs the program Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of community programs. The supervisor may work some evenings and weekends as the program needs dictate and will be required to travel within the community served by the agency to meet the responsibility of the position.
Program Management
- Review and monitor service and activities to ensure that goals of persons and communities are served, program goals and contract requirements and outcomes are being met and appropriate service/activities provided.
- Ensure that services and activities are provided within the context of program and Agency philosophy, values and principles as laid out in the Program Policies and Procedures Manual and Agency Personnel Policies.
- Prepare and maintain budgets for a variety of programs.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community members, families, funders, donors, collateral community groups. This will include participation in committee or other community organizational work.
- Ensure that client complaints and concerns are dealt with and documented promptly in ways that promote positive outcome for the person served and the program and that the Director of Programs and Services and the Chief Executive Officer are informed as per the Agency Complaints Policy
- Ensure that staff are aware of and agree to comply with the agency Personnel Policies, Health & Safety Policies, Program Policies and Procedures and that administrative and accounting records are complete, timely and accurate. Monitor and provide supervision to support staff conformance.
Staff/Volunteer Supervision & Consultation
- Recruit, orient, direct and supervise the community programs staff. This includes planning, orientation, regular supervision, consultation, annual performance reviews, approval of time sheets, expenses and time off requests.
- Coordinate and document staff meetings.
- Recommend hiring and discipline of staff to the Director of Programs and Services.
- Conduct all human resource activities within the guidelines of the Agency Personnel Policy Manual and the Collective Agreement and ensure compliance.
Qualifications Required:
- Diploma in social work, community psychology or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of community program related experience and will have experience of providing supervision.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- The candidate will demonstrate leadership skills and will understand and work effectively in a variety of community development models.
- Will demonstrate skills and comfort in supervising a team.
- Competent in program administration and budgeting procedures.
- Will have expertise in program development, problem solving, and oral and written communication skills.
- Organized, creative and demonstrated administrative expertise.
