BACKGROUND

Lauren is looking for a Senior Project Director to support potential new major projects. The Project Director is responsible for overseeing the successful execution and completion of complex projects, managing project teams, coordinating resources, ensuring deadlines are met, adhering to budgets, and maintaining high quality standards while fostering client satisfaction. The Project Director may oversee a single project/ project manager or a portfolio with a team of project managers. The Project Director is accountable for overall program/project success, including stakeholder communication, issue resolution, and strategic decision-making. This role will report to the Manager of Project Management.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and guide project teams, including project managers, designers, and developers, providing clear direction and ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Project Planning and Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, set project goals, manage project scope, and oversee all phases of project execution.
  • Budget Management: Manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, identify potential cost overruns, and make necessary adjustments to stay within financial constraints.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and senior management, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing concerns.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues that could impact project success.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and adhere to established guidelines.
  • Resource Allocation: Allocate resources effectively across the project team, managing personnel and assigning tasks based on individual strengths.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with clients, understand their needs, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track project progress against key metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Make critical decisions regarding project scope, budget, and resource allocation, considering potential impacts on the overall project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in an Engineering Discipline
  • 20+ years of formal training and experience with leading engineering and different technical teams
  • Experience with Major Projects in excess of $100MM total install cost spanning multiple years
  • Experience with EPCM project delivery preferred but not required
  • Must be licensed as a professional engineer in Canada
  • Must be familiar with applicable codes, standards, and acceptable industry practices such as CSA Z662 and ASME B31.3
  • Currently residing in Canada within one of our office locations of Calgary, Kelowna or Vancouver

  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Project
  • Experience with liquid oil pipeline systems and pump stations is preferred

This is a hybrid position based in one of our offices of Calgary, Kelowna or Vancouver. You will lead teams and projects while actively contributing to the growth of the team and our business.

You will be hands-on in managing both the team dynamics and project deliverables ensuring successful outcomes and fostering a collaborative work environment.
