We're in search of an Intermediate / Senior Accountant to play a crucial role in our finance team, focusing on ensuring accuracy and efficiency across financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and treasury management. Responsibilities include month-end closings, financial analysis, supporting audit processes, and improving financial systems. The ideal candidate will independently manage specific financial operations and contribute to projects enhancing our financial strategy and operations. What you will do:

  • Prepare month-end working papers and assist in generating associated monthly financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly government filings, including RST and HST.
  • Support the Manager of Accounting Services with quarterly regulatory reporting and participate in the year-end audit process. This includes preparing necessary documentation and assisting with auditors' inquiries.
  • Contribute to ongoing financial projects, working collaboratively with the finance team to achieve project objectives and deliver on time.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled in the financial system.
  • Work closely with the accounting team and other departments to support financial operations across the organization, ensuring a collaborative approach to achieving business goals.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities, staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in finance and accounting.
  • Assist in the creation of annual budgets and financial forecasts by analyzing historical data to inform strategic planning.
  • Carry out additional accounting tasks as assigned, which may include but are not limited to journal entries, ledger maintenance, and financial analysis.

What you will need:

  • Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration. Preference will be given to candidates that are working towards a CPA designation.
  • 2-3 years recent experience in a related accounting position
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical agility. Experience with IFRS is an asset.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and financial reporting software is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with prioritization, time management and project management skills
  • Highly effective written and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to build a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in dealing with private and confidential information.
  • A commitment to showing relentless respect and kindness.
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to try new things and offer new ideas.

This is a hybrid position with the opportunity to work both remotely and from the office.
