Established 52 years ago, Summit Community Services Society is a non-profit Organization with its main office in Cranbrook, BC the sunniest city in British Columbia. We promote community well-being by providing various social services in Kimberley and Cranbrook, BC, including counselling, early childhood development, and seniors' programming. Our society is experiencing significant growth, and we are excited to add a position in financial management to our talented and creative team.
Due to the exciting growth of our society, we are seeking the right person to lead our financial system into a new era with enthusiasm. With the support of the executive director and an excellent board, we seek a skilled, upbeat and experienced financial professional with a solid working knowledge of financial systems, is a great communicator and who will develop a precise, transparent, and efficient financial framework for our society. Our Admin Clerk is responsible for managing payables and overseeing overall administration. In addition to Payroll, your role will be to create financial systems, reports, and the groundwork for a stable financial and strategic plan for our Society. You will also establish a fundraising strategy for the society to create financial stability for the organization.
We support a creative approach to your work. It can be a 40-hour/week position, but it also allows for working less, depending on what you are looking for. Therefore, we are open to your ideasfor example, if you would like to take care of Summits financial needs and utilize your office for more minor, private bookkeeping services. This is not a position where we train you on what to do. This senior leadership position requires you to be a financial wizard who establishes guidelines and systems for the team to follow.

Expectations for the Role
Perform Bank and CC reconciliations at the end of each month to ensure financial statements properly reflect bank and CC activity.
Payroll
Generate funds accounting
Generate financial reports for Management and all program managers monthly as needed.
Calculate, file, and remit GST that is owed quarterly
Calculate, file, and remit WCB quarterly
Cash flow management
Develop financial models and Pro-forma financial statements to support the senior management team in business decision-making
Process improvement, data analysis, presenting information
Strategic and capital planning
Support for budget building process and consolidation
Develop and maintain cost-finding, reporting and internal control procedures
Prepare year-end statements for the auditor
Get a CRC for vulnerable adults and children


Qualifications
Required Education:
University degree or College Diploma in Accounting from a recognized Canadian Post-Secondary Institution
Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent understanding of accounting principles and basic accounting skills
High level of proficiency with MS Office applications
Excellent Quick Books online knowledge
Detail-oriented and excellent analytical skills
Ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions
Well-developed interpersonal skills to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating a friendly and supportive attitude toward colleagues
