Dragonfly Counselling & Support Centre (DCSC) is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides service to children, youth, and adults who have been impacted by sexual violence.

DCSC is seeking Client Advocates (Legal Systems) to join a project that supports and empowers vulnerable individuals within our community by providing comprehensive education, advocacy, and psychological support services while they navigate the legal system and related process; including accompaniment for RCMP reports, court support, and hospital procedures related to sexual assault. This role is hybrid and requires both in office and frequent regular travel (including overnight stays.) Accepting Applications from St. Paul, Athabasca, Cold Lake, Slave Lake and Bonnyville.

Employment Type: FTE Hybrid (Term position – March 31, 2026.)

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate client needs, challenges, and assesses suitability for service options relating to the legal system both immediate and long term (reporting, medical care, safety)
  • Attend to legally required reporting of child sexual abuse, child pornography, sexual exploitation, etc. to ensure protection of minors and vulnerable populations
  • Assist clients in understanding and accessing legal system service options that best suit their needs
  • Accompany clients to appointments, RCMP reporting, or court proceedings related to sexual violence
  • Provide stabilization and coping techniques to mitigate impacts from acute trauma, maintain client safety, and create a support plan for clients considering or utilizing legal systems
  • Provide de-briefing options for participants of workshops, caregivers of Survivors, and partners in the legal system that may be experiencing vicarious trauma
  • Provide outreach support (travel required) to survivors throughout DCSC service region, based on client need
  • Gather and organize documentation including information and data required for client case management, funding proposals and public education initiatives
  • Provide support to all components of service at various locations including, but not limited to, consultation, involvement in agency events/fundraising, and assistance to all agency programs and locations
  • Build connections with key stakeholders, legal professionals, law enforcement, healthcare providers and other social service agencies
  • Participate in community initiatives to improve legal accessibility and advocate for systemic change in response to sexual violence

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in human services required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Current or eligible for professional registration required
  • An understanding of women's issues, social justice advocacy, diversity and anti-oppressive practice an asset
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations in a trauma-informed manner
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficient in MS Office and case management database
  • Clear Criminal Record and Child/Youth Intervention Check
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
