Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Project Accounting, the Accounts Payable Specialist, Project Accounting will be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of project accounting.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable; review, organize, track, and process a high-volume of vendor invoices ensuring accuracy, documentation, and authorization
  • Prepare various reconciliations including credit cards, commissions, contracts, holdbacks, and chargeback on a regular basis documenting and investigate any discrepancies
  • Assist with the construction draw process and other financing activities by providing reports and backup as required
  • Prepare and perform bi-weekly cheque runs & ensure coordination of cheque signing
  • Respond to queries from vendors and project managers in a timely manner
  • Perform support functions including filing, scanning and other ad-hoc requests
  • Review and setup of contracts and commitments for assigned projects
  • Ensure that the Policies and Procedures of the Accounting Department are adhered to as well as all regulatory requirements
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree, and working towards an accounting designation
  • Experience: 1 + years accounting experience in a development and construction accounting environment
  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with all team members inside and outside of accounting at all levels within the organization
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Resourceful mindset with attention to detail and high-quality standards
  • Ability to audit own work for accuracy and completeness
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
    • Asset: experience with Yardi
  • Willing to take on new tasks and projects with a team-based focus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
