Ø Provide direction to ensure specific safety rules, quality procedures, housekeeping, proactive accident prevention and conscious “safety” behaviours are adhered to and enforced if necessary.
Ø Lead team of engineers, through motivation and conflict resolution, while ensuring a productive and harmonious work environment. Ensure training and development of team to adapt to new technologies, methodologies, or specific project requirements.
Ø Collaborate with OEMs and suppliers to define project details; work closely with manufacturing group to understand needs, requirements, and expectations, translating these elements into clear technical specifications for the engineering team.
Ø Analyze projects and conduct research to determine development viability: conduct in-depth analyses to assess the technical, economic, and time feasibility of different solutions after choosing the best one for the project.
Ø Project management - Oversee and manage all phases of an engineering project, from its conception to completion. This includes planning, resource organization, task allocation, and coordinating various stages of the project.
Ø Keep stakeholders informed of project status. Regularly communicate with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, address their questions, and resolve any potential issues. This constant communication ensures transparency and stakeholder satisfaction throughout the process.
Ø Prior to delivery, ensure project has been vigorously tested and assessed. Ensure inspection of all products and services to ensure they meet safety and quality control requirements and adhere to regulatory standards.
Ø Complete projects on time and within budgets: Ensure that projects are delivered within the expected timelines and without exceeding allocated budgets. This requires effective resource management, anticipation of risks, and proactive decision-making.
Ø Develop effective policies and processes for the project - develop policies and processes to optimize work methodologies and ensure operational efficiency. This may include implementing quality standards, safety protocols, and best practices to maximize project outcomes.
Ø As guardian of innovation, must remain constantly informed about technological advancement and market trends. Integrates advancement into development process to maintain the company's competitiveness. Collaborates closely with various departments to ensure coherence between technical objectives, market needs, and production capabilities.
Ø To perform other tasks or jobs as need or required by the Company
Education
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering speciality (minimum requirement)
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng)
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
- Five (5-10) years of experience as an engineering professional who managed technical activities and team(s) of engineers, related professionals, and support personnel in a manufacturing environment.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
- Strong people management skills, along with experience in executive communication and program management
