Full job description
As a Cargo Claims Analyst/Adjuster, you will work closely with our claims team, sales, customer service, accounting, payables and receivables and our management team in investigating, adjudicating and processing claims.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and adjudicate cargo claims, including logistics, FTL and LTL, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare detailed file summaries for large loss claims ensuring all pertinent information is accurately documented.
- Negotiates directly with insurance company adjusters, claimants, and third-party claimant representatives as required per cargo claim.
- Prepare and file subrogation claims against other carriers, follow up and make sure to secure payments on all claims.
- Reporting of claims as necessary, yearly/monthly claims reporting, assessments and prevention.
- Communicate with the Claims team as well as the Safety/Compliance team (and others as necessary) on any relevant items
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education, and transportation knowledge.
- 2+ years of experience in trucking, claims or safety is a MUST HAVE.
- Experience with transportation liability and The Ontario HWY Traffic Act
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Strong multi-tasking, time-management, customer service, and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, write letters, emails
- Ability to communicate with customers when required in the daily investigations of claims
