Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Janitor will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall appearance of the Wekoqmaq Administration building, setting a high standard for cleanliness, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for staff, visitors, and community members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

Cleaning and Maintenance:

- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors throughout the building.

- Dust and clean office furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.

- Clean and disinfect restrooms, replenish supplies, and ensure overall cleanliness.

- Wash windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces as needed.

- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including wiping down surfaces and appliances.

Safety and Compliance:

- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

- Report any hazardous conditions or safety concerns to the Director, Public Works.

Other Duties:

- Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings, events, and gatherings.

- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and inform the Director of Public Works when reordering is needed.

- Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

- Must be a Waycobah Band Member

- WHMIS certification or ability to complete upon hire

- Good people skills (personable)

- Previous experience in janitorial or cleaning services is preferred but not required.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Good time management skills.

- Basic understanding of cleaning techniques and equipment.

- Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
