THE ROLE
STRIVE has partnered with a real estate development company, involved in developing single-family residential homes and multi-family townhouses across the Lower Mainland. They are looking for a Senior Accountantwho is adaptable and organized for theirLangleylocation.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in real estate and construction accounting, proven expertise in ERP system implementations, and a deep understanding of full-cycle accounting practices. This role involves overseeing daily accounting operations, managing a direct report, and ensuring the seamless execution of complex transactions while optimizing systems and processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage all daily accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Handle the complete accounting cycle, including transaction processing, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Maintain and optimize financial data within QuickBooks, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance with best accounting practices.
- Lead or assist in ERP system implementations, ensuring seamless integration, enhanced reporting capabilities, and improved overall efficiency in accounting operations.
- Apply specialized real estate and construction accounting principles, including project cost tracking, job costing, revenue recognition, and contract management.
- Manage and reconcile high-value and intricate financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and internal controls.
- Identify inefficiencies in existing accounting workflows and implement streamlined processes to enhance productivity, accuracy, and financial reporting.
- Support tax planning and compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to real estate-related tax laws and regulations while assisting with tax filings and audits.
- Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to one direct report, ensuring effective task delegation, professional development, and alignment with organizational goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Strong background in both public practice and industry accounting, with at least 4-5 years of relevant work experience
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and ERP system implementations.
- Proficiency in full-cycle accounting, financial statement preparation, and reconciliations.
- In-depth knowledge of real estate-related tax principles and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to streamline accounting workflows, implement internal controls, and enhance efficiency through automation.
- Demonstrated leadership in overseeing daily accounting operations, managing staff, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
