Reports To: Housing Department Manager
Job Purpose:
The Tenant Relations Officer aims to enhance tenant relations within the Cold Lake First Nations Housing Department. This role ensures adherence to property management best practices while providing leadership and serving as a representative of the Housing Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate day-to-day tenant relations and activities, ensuring alignment with Cold Lake First Nations values.
Act as a liaison between tenants, external stakeholders, and community resources as needed.
Assist other CLFN departments with authorized work on housing units or surrounding property.
Perform minor outdoor maintenance tasks as requested by the Housing Manager.
Maintain accurate records of each tenant and report to the Housing Department weekly.
Encourage tenant participation in community activities and meetings/committees.
Respond to inquiries from social housing clients and prospective applicants, directing them to the appropriate CLFN department or authority.
Assist with tenant selection and the eviction process as requested.
Inform tenants of new policies or changes to existing policies and responsibilities.
Provide home maintenance tips and other relevant information from the Housing Department.
Coordinate and promote participation in tenant workshops, including basic home maintenance.
Maintain cooperative relationships with community resources/agencies, landlords, and other housing societies/groups.
Ensure tenants understand guidelines in the Tenant Agreement.
Assist with unit inspections during probationary periods and at move-in and move-out times.
Respond to tenant complaints or concerns as requested by the Housing Manager.
Be available for emergency situations regarding tenants.
Refer social housing clients to the appropriate authority or contractor for housing-related issues.
Perform all duties in accordance with CLFN policies, standards, and procedures.
Maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of CLFN.

Must possess a reliable insured vehicle.
First Nation Housing Training Certificate and 1-year experience managing residential properties or equivalent education and experience.
Valid class 5 AB Drivers License.
Prefer experience with the Residential Tenancy Act.
Must be a Journeyman Carpenter.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
The position may involve occasional outdoor maintenance tasks.
Availability to respond to emergencies.
Regular interaction with tenants and various stakeholders.
