Construction Estimator- Full time - Burlington - $75-$85K +

Founded in 1928, this organization has grown to become a major supplier of aggregate, asphalt, concrete, roller compacted concrete, excavation, and site services to the Southern Ontario market.

With years of experience and access to specialized equipment, they hold a competitive advantage in providing services such as asphalt paving, concrete work, earth moving, snow removal, and many more.

We are looking to add a new Construction Estimator to the team in the Burlington ON office. Time will be split in the office and out in the field at their various work sites from Golden Horseshoe to Niagara to Toronto and Pickering as a general radius. A valid G license and the ability to drive to work sites are required.

The main focus of the Construction Engineer's responsibilities will include;

  • Preparing Estimates of probable costs of materials, labour, and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based upon the particulars of the contract bids, quotations, drawings and specifications
  • Evaluate and review cost estimates, establish and maintain tendering processes
  • Prepare estimates and cost analyses in detail and on time
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Communicate with trade partners and team members which include engineers, owners, contractors, and subs on the status of all projects

What you can expect:

  • The standard workweek for the position is 40 hours - there are peak periods that will require the estimator to work longer hours as part of the job
  • The Estimators are fully safety trained in-house to be prepared to work on construction sites - safety is a top priority
  • The Estimator will work in the office and spend time on construction sites in the GTA and surrounding to review the projects to price, and job progress and meet with stakeholders to ensure expectations are being met and information is accurate and reported correctly

What we are looking for:

  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience as a construction estimator
  • Civil Engineering Technology or Technician designation is preferred
  • Solid understanding of underground sewer, water main installations, excavation, concrete works, and asphalt paving
  • An outgoing, strong communicator who has learned how to be organized, and accountable, understands the negotiation process
  • We love folks who love the outdoors, who might have grown up on a farm, are mechanically inclined, and have experience in the field gained from working physical labour work in the past - these qualities are nice to have for the true fit
  • Strong computer skills, MS Office proficiency; Project and Bid software skills are ideal (Bid2Win experience ideal) along with Excel and strength with numbers, calculations and ability to read and interpret civil architectural plans
  • Team players are expected, taking initiative is important, and having strong business communication skills a must.
  • Valid G driver's license required
