Job description

Role Purpose

As the Pharmacist on the CSR floor, you are a vital member of the healthcare team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and safety of medication-related interactions between patients and the Company. This role involves monitoring CSR calls, providing expert counselling to patients, reviewing clinical information, taking verbal prescriptions, assisting in the education of CSRs in medication updates, and consulting on the development of pharmacist-related software interfaces.

Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to the CEO.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

Call Monitoring and Support:

  • Listen to CSR calls with patients to ensure medication accuracy, adherence to protocols, and appropriate communication of drug-related information.
  • Intervene in calls when necessary to correct or clarify medication-related details.
  • Take direct calls routed by CSRs for professional counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, interactions, and other drug-related inquiries.

Patient Counseling:

  • Provide accurate and clear information to patients regarding their medications, including dosing, storage, and any special instructions.
  • Address patient concerns about medications, answering questions about potential side effects, interactions, and alternatives.

Clinical Information Review:

  • Review and verify the clinical information of patients to ensure appropriate medication therapy.
  • Assess patient records for drug interactions, contraindications, and other clinical considerations before finalizing prescriptions.

Verbal Prescription Handling:

  • Accept and accurately transcribe verbal prescriptions from healthcare providers.
  • Ensure that all verbal prescriptions comply with legal and regulatory standards.

CSR Education & Training:

  • Assist in the training and continuous education of CSR staff on updated medication information, including new drugs, changes in drug protocols, and regulatory updates.
  • Develop educational materials and conduct training sessions as needed.

Software Development Consultation:

  • Provide input and feedback to the software development team on the pharmacist interface and related workflows.
  • Work closely with IT to ensure the pharmacist-related tools are user-friendly, efficient, and compliant with industry standards.
  • Participate in testing and refinement of new software features before implementation.

Skills and Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in Pharmacy or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Active and valid pharmacist license.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed pharmacist.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and legal standards related to pharmacy practice, including handling prescriptions and medication safety protocols.

Note:

  • The position is based on the CSR Floor, and may involve sitting for extended periods, listening to calls and working with multiple software systems.
  • Occasional meetings with the Software Development team, either in person or virtual.
  • Other projects or duties may be assigned by the CEO
