Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Marine Project Manager to oversee and manage marine construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant experience in marine construction project management, with expertise in estimating, procurement, client relations, accounting, and drafting. This role is based in Victoria, BC, and will require a dynamic, results-driven professional who understands marine construction processes and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution:

  • Develop and manage project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, and timelines, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company objectives.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of marine construction projects, including pile driving, dredging, demolition, remediation, and new construction.
  • Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to ensure successful delivery on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Estimating:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for marine construction projects by reviewing project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Develop comprehensive cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Gather pricing information from vendors and subcontractors to support accurate estimates.
  • Prepare bid proposals and tender submissions, working closely with clients and stakeholders.
  • Recommend cost-saving strategies through value engineering and process optimization.

Procurement & Financial Management:

  • Manage procurement processes, including sourcing materials and negotiating supplier contracts.
  • Monitor project budgets, control expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Track project costs and prepare financial reports for internal management and clients.
  • Ensure timely payments and accurate billing in accordance with project contracts and schedules.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and managing client expectations.
  • Attend client meetings, project briefings, and site inspections.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Reporting:

  • Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring all members are aligned with project goals and company values.
  • Conduct regular project meetings, track milestones, and manage deliverables.
  • Prepare and present progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of project management experience in marine construction (pile driving, dredging, demolition, remediation, or new construction).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Bluebeam, Word, Outlook) and knowledge of drafting tools and construction accounting software.
  • Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent (preferred).
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities for managing client relationships and internal reporting.
  • Problem-Solving: Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Canadian marine construction standards, WSBC regulations, environmental regulations, and safety compliance.
