THE ROLE

STRIVE has exclusively partnered with a well-established, key player in the building materials industry, to recruit a hands-on, reliable Controller.

This independently owned and operated organization has experienced significant growth fueled by strategic acquisitions, a strong operational focus, and a commitment to excellence. Their continued expansion includes the construction of a new manufacturing plant, reflecting their forward-thinking approach and investment in long-term success.

The Controller oversees accounting, financial reporting, and day-to-day admin operations. The candidate is comfortable with ensuring accuracy in auditing process, compliance, and accounting reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completion of month-end and year-end financial close
  • Production of management reports including consolidated financial statements, weekly & monthly sales reports, sales commission report, weekly cash forecast, and monthly gross margin targets
  • Monthly bank reporting and quarterly covenant compliance certificate.
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, supplier statements, prepaids, inventory, return to vendors, fixed assets, related party transactions, investments and rebates, outstanding receipts, accrued liabilities, bank debt, review expense postings, bonus calculation, and Head Office allocation
  • GST and PST reporting and payments.
  • Cash management including daily cash balancing, weekly EFT payments and receipts, online bill payments.
  • Administration of corporate credit cards.
  • Manage year end audit with external auditor.
  • Develop internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures to safeguard the financial assets of the organization.
  • Provide leadership to AP Coordinator, AP Clerks and AR Clerks

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA Designated is preferred
  • 6-7 years of accounting experience, ideally in mid-size to large-size corporations
  • Retail, Lumber of Building Materials experience is ideal
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication/presentation, and written skills
  • Learning and execution attitude
