Hansen Solar Energy along with Hansen Group of Companies, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to lead their finance team through the next stages of their business growth. This role is a key strategic and operational leader responsible for financial planning, reporting, compliance, and business performance optimization. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Controller will provide critical financial insights to drive decision-making and ensure fiscal integrity across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Leadership: Direct and oversee all financial functions, ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.

  • Financial Planning & Strategy: Manage budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning to optimize profitability and support business growth.

  • Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and present internal and external financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulations.

  • Operational Accounting: Oversee the management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

  • Audit & Risk Management: Coordinate external and internal audits, implement effective internal controls, and mitigate financial risks.

  • Cash Flow & Revenue Management: Maintain cash flow forecasting, property and operational billings, and intercompany transactions.

  • Business Performance Analysis: Provide financial insights to guide business decisions, balance sheet management, inventory control, and expense monitoring.

  • Process Improvement: Assess and enhance current accounting systems, implementing new technologies and efficiencies where needed.

  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Evaluate financial aspects of potential acquisitions and oversee financial integration.

  • Leadership & Team Development: Hire, train, and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Certifications: CPA designation strongly preferred (or in progress).

  • Experience: 5+ years in financial management, preferably with exposure to FP&A, compliance, and financial strategy.

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Industry Experience: Background in construction, renewable energy, or similar industries is an asset.

  • Leadership Abilities: Strong team leadership, communication, and mentorship skills.

  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with attention to detail.
