Our client in Financial Services is looking to bring on a contract Enterprise Architect for a 6 month contract to start. This will be a hybrid role (2-3 days) in the office in downtown Toronto. The successful candidate will join the Enterprise Architecture and Technology Solution Architecture team, working in a dynamic and demanding environment. The Enterprise Architecture team helps define IT strategies and provides cross-platform oversight and support for application and infrastructure delivery teams.

Role

As the Senior Cloud Architect, you will have a deep understanding of the three main cloud hyperscalers (Azure, GCP, AWS) and lead the Infrastructure Architecture team in this area. You will support all delivery teams and service organizations, shape the technology strategy, ensure maximum reuse of technology, and establish standards for the secure introduction of new technologies. This includes creating and implementing all components of cloud-based solutions, such as infrastructure design, cloud networking, security, and Dev/Sec/Ops pipeline integration for both application and infrastructure code. Experience with AI and automation solutions from cloud providers is also required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an architectural roadmap for cloud services.
• Provide architecture governance for new business opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee solution development in project delivery and BAU from both a technology and cost analysis perspective.
• Provide direction on deep-level incident and problem management if required.
• Support other application and technology architects in developing solutions to meet business requirements.
• Develop and communicate a clear vision for cloud technologies that supports the organization's business goals.
• Evolve solution patterns, templates, and standards within the Architecture community.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to translate needs into actionable architecture artifacts.
• Participate in architecture review and approval processes for technology projects.
• Monitor and assess changes to the cloud technology landscape, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigating strategies.
• Conduct architecture reviews and assessments to ensure compliance with standards, design principles, and quality criteria.
• Provide guidance and support to solution architects and development teams during design and implementation phases.
• Define and maintain the target enterprise architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and flexibility.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and optimization.
• Identify opportunities for technology consolidation, rationalization, and modernization.
• Foster collaborative relationships with solution architects, IT teams, and business units.

Qualifications and Skills

• Undergraduate degree recommended.
• Strong technical and solution architecture background across various technologies, including infrastructure, integration, databases, legacy data centers, networks, DNS, AD, and security.
• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies.
• Expert knowledge of cloud service provider products, services, and solutions.
• Previous industry-related experience in application development, engineering, and operational roles.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Strong document writing and presentation skills.
• Understanding of ITIL, Agile, Waterfall, and other delivery methodologies.
• Strong technical influencing and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to act independently.
