The Opportunity
Reporting to the Project Architect, the Intern Architect helps research and prepare architectural drawings using special drafting software. Intern Architects are key members of the design team. As such the Intern Architect will play a vital role in turning the design ideas of architects and engineers into practical, workable buildings. They may also research building codes, test building materials for suitability, calculate cost estimates, building models based on architects' designs, and oversee construction projects by monitoring and inspecting the work of builders.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Produce architectural documentation for all phases of project work
  • Adhere to company and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability
  • Develop detail sketches generated by project architects
  • Design in accordance with applicable codes and ordinances
  • Use appropriate graphic and modelling techniques to communicate solutions
  • Consistently complete drawings within project schedules and budgets
  • Consistently produce accurate drawing changes with limited supervision
  • Resolve complex technical issues
  • Conduct Site visit and collection of information with customer
  • Manage communications with the client
  • Manage sub consultant such as engineer and surveyor
  • Coordination with local authorities during the permitting process

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • 5 to 10 years of experience within Residential, commercial and industrial settings
  • Great knowledge of wood construction
  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills to work effectively with various officials, staff, citizens, and other customers
  • Strong organizational skills and professional work ethic
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural design documentation, detailing, building materials and codes, construction techniques
  • Experience using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and Lumion (photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) , Revit, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Rhino and rendering with Vray is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and understand implications of modifications to drawings.
  • Ability to take direction and function as a cooperative team member
  • Ability to draw accurate set of working drawings in a timely manner; checks own work for errors, omissions, and legibility
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and high activity periods without loss of quality, thoroughness and accuracy
  • Ability to assist or show creative skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a focus on collaboration and integration

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $64,000 to $91,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.
