Atlantic Road Construction & Paving is a large heavy civil construction company specializing in mass excavation, drilling & blasting, pipeline & underground utility placement, concrete placement and asphalt paving. Our team has had tremendous growth in the last year, and we are excited to keep expanding. We are currently looking to hire an Estimator to join our growing team in the HRM area. A critical part of our growth & success starts with the Estimating department. We are looking for someone who is hardworking, dynamic, intelligent, and has the drive to succeed. The successful candidate will have an innate ability to form strong relationships with customers, a strong understanding of heavy civil construction & a keen eye for detail.
Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or a Diploma in Construction Management Technology or Civil Engineering Technology.
- Extensive experience estimating provincial and municipal & commercial projects.
- Working knowledge of various Estimating and CAD software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional attitude, punctual, assertive, and personable.
- Must have strong communication, time management and organizational skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read blueprints in order to estimate project cost effectively.
- Performing quantity takeoffs and preparing estimates of probable costs.
- Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers on various estimates towards the construction project.
- Prepare a summary of the quantities in terms of the plans and specs.
- Examining and analyzing tender documents, requests for proposals, and requests for quotations.
- Liaising, consulting, and communicating with engineers, architects, owners, and contractors.
