Position: Apprentice Truck and Trailer Technician (2nd year or higher)

Type: Fulltime Permanent - Monday-Friday 37.5 hours/week

Location: Langley, BC

Compensation: From $32.00/hour

Position Overview:

Velocity Truck Rental and Leasing has an exciting opening for a couple Apprentice Heavy Duty Technician / Truck and Trailer Mechanic based out of Langley, BC. The Apprentice Heavy Duty Technician / Truck and Trailer Mechanic will work closely with the Journeymen and is responsible to keep our Fleets, Truck Rentals and leasing vehicles in perfect operating condition. You will help develop, and maintain excellent customer relations, to the highest level of customer service, to exceed all customer expectations.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers under the guidance of experienced technicians
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tire replacements
  • Help troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to support repairs and ensure vehicles meet safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
  • Learn and follow safety protocols while working in a workshop environment
  • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure repairs are completed on time
  • Attend training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge for career advancement
  • Assist with inventory management and parts ordering as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working on highway/heavy duty trucks
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Class 3 with air brakes or Class 1 is considered an asset)
  • A strong interest in heavy-duty trucks and trailers, with a passion for learning the trade
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions from experienced technicians
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Good communication skills to interact with team members and customers
  • Willingness to attend training and develop skills to become a certified technician
