Position Summary

Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager (or their designate), the Banquets Captain ensures the smooth execution of events by overseeing setup, service, and breakdown operations. This role requires leading a team of servers and support staff, coordinating with event planners, and ensuring guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates excellent attention to detail, and is committed to maintaining the highest service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address guest inquiries and special requests promptly and professionally, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with the Banquet Supervisor, Manager, and kitchen staff to ensure seamless operations and timely service.
  • Supervise and train servers and support staff, providing clear guidance to maintain service excellence.
  • Oversee event setup, service, and breakdown, ensuring adherence to timelines and high-quality standards.
  • Adhere to ProServe standards and all local alcohol service regulations, verifying legal drinking age and monitoring responsible service.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels for banquet supplies and report shortages or needs to management.
  • Ensure all safety, health, and cleanliness standards are upheld during events, adhering to company policies and regulations.
  • Assist in executing special events, ensuring all details are managed effectively and meet guest expectations.
  • Work well as a team player and always maintain a respectful and professional attitude.
  • Knowledgeable about the menu and wine list that is offered and answer questions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a hospitality or banquet service role.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and manage a team effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • ProServe certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to stand and for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Duration: This is a Full-Time seasonal position, April to October. Overtime during busy periods may be required.
