Job Summary: The Maintenance Foreman works closely with the Maintenance Manager and Service Manager, executing and delegating tasks to guarantee on-schedule completion. From planning and scheduling jobs to providing leadership and coaching to the maintenance crew, the Maintenance Foreman is a crucial part of our team. This role involves problem-solving, equipment maintenance, and advanced landscape knowledge, making it an exciting opportunity for someone ready to elevate their career.
Responsibilities:
- Execute and delegate tasks to ensure timely completion of jobs
- Plan and schedule jobs as required
- Provide leadership and coaching to maintenance crew members and junior foremen
- Problem-solving and dispute resolution
- Ensure equipment is maintained and in good working order
- Conduct equipment inspections prior to use and address deficiencies
- Complete equipment repair and large mower servicing
- Advanced leadership and plant identification skills
- Watering and fertilization management
- Financial management, including basic quoting, tendering, and negotiation
- Basic design and plant selection
- Act as a Company ambassador and maintain a professional attitude
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Maintain an ordered appearance as described in the Operations Manual
- Participate in safety-related meetings (toolbox talks) and wear correct Personal Protective Equipment
- Timely completion of all assigned paperwork
Education:
- Completion of Secondary School
- Post-secondary education in horticulture is an asset
- Occupational First Aid, Level 1
- Industry certifications (e.g., Pesticide Applicator) are an asset
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of industry experience or education equivalent
- Experience working in an outdoor, laborious position
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of local plant life
- Mechanical aptitude (troubleshooting)
- Previous experience with landscape machinery (mowers, line trimmers, blowers)
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable working in a team environment
- Understanding of advanced landscape calculations and measurements
- Understanding and interpretation of blueprints and site maps
- Knowledge of basic finance
- Demonstrated strong leadership/supervisory skills
- Knowledge of Green Walls and their maintenance
Physical Requirements:
- This position is 100% labor, requiring good physical condition
- Ability to lift weight in excess of 50 lbs, bending, crouching, twisting, and standing/walking for long periods
Work Environment:
- 100% outdoor position, subject to varied weather conditions
- Wear layers and sunscreen as required
Compensation:
- Competitive wages based on experience ($26-$30 per hour)
