Drafting Engineer
The Drafting Engineer will support design, research and development for company product. The Drafting Engineer will report to the Sr. Director, Engineering. This role works within a team and provides guidance and support to product development and manufacturing.

Work Schedule:
This is a salaried role with the majority of hours being M-F 8-5 pm. Flexibility in hours of work is desired, as workload may vary according to the requirements based on volume of work.
Job Duties:
- Design, modify and troubleshoot specialized equipment and products using 3D CAD software
- Design manufacturing aids for machining, welding and assembly used in the production of various products
- Directing the construction of new products and equipment
- Research local codes, guidelines, and design criteria for the development of products and equipment
- Produce technical documentation for products including parts drawings, assembly drawings, exploded views, sale drawings etc.
- Evaluating the assembly, performance and design of new products or equipment.
- Reporting on project charters, testing documentation and design analysis of a product development lifecycle
- Evaluating products and equipment using analytical models and software analysis (ie. FEA, Mathcad)
- Advising on the development of work instructions to aid in the manufacturing process
- Directing technical inspections to identify critical components and advising on quality control methods
- Undertake hands-on work in all stages of product development (first article inspection, assembly, physical testing etc)
Qualifications/Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering Technologist, C.E.T. an asset, or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, Enterprise PDM, ANSYS, Mathcad, Microsoft Office, and data acquisition software
- 2-5 years' experience in research and development or design engineering
- Oil and Gas experience with knowledge in down hole tool design
- Strong understanding of materials and stress mechanics
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Knowledge of quality programs such as ISO 9001:2015 and API
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities
- Automation, programming, PLC, C++ experience considered valuable
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
- Overtime as required to cover staff and support urgent client needs
- Professional dress code

- Lifting or moving up to 30lbs may be required
- Development toward Professional Designation with APEGA
