- Lead and guide the design process from concept ideation to project realization for complex institutional and civic architecture projects.
- Collaborate closely with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to understand project goals, user needs, and design requirements.
- Champion design excellence within the firm, promoting a culture of innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement.
- Drive design charrettes, workshops, and presentations to communicate design concepts and inspire project teams and stakeholders.
- Review and critique design proposals, offering insightful feedback to elevate design quality and alignment with project objectives.
- Ensure design solutions are responsive to site context, environmental sustainability, and user experience.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in institutional and civic architecture.
- Collaborate with other design disciplines, including landscape architects, interior designers, and engineers, to achieve holistic design outcomes.
- Mentor and nurture design talent within the firm, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Play an active role in business development activities, including proposal writing, client presentations, and fostering client relationships.
- Oversee the development of design deliverables and documentation, adhering to project timelines and budgets.
- Act as a key spokesperson for the firm's design philosophy, both internally and externally.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in architectural design, with a strong focus on institutional and civic architecture projects in Canada.
- A robust and diverse portfolio showcasing significant contributions to high-profile institutional and civic projects.
- Proven leadership experience in guiding and managing the design process from concept to construction.
- Exceptional design and visualization skills, with proficiency in relevant design software and tools.
- Thorough knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards applicable to institutional and civic architecture.
- Outstanding leadership qualities and the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor design teams.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating design concepts to diverse audiences.
- A commitment to sustainable design practices and a passion for creating transformative architectural solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while upholding design excellence and meeting project goals.
- Familiarity with sustainable design principles and LEED certification is a plus.
