A DAY IN THE LIFE...
- Leads the project team, identifies critical path items, and manages long-lead material procurement. Oversees project kick-off and progress meetings.
- Ensures quality control of project.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers to ensure efficient job execution and future business opportunities. They serve as the primary client contact.
- Receives project hand-over details from estimating and maintains comprehensive records of all project-related documents, drawings, dates, and correspondence.
- Collaborates with client representatives throughout all project phases, including engineering, drafting, construction, and contracts.
- Evaluates, selects, commissions, and manages suppliers and subcontractors.
- Establishes and executes a project communication plan, conducting regular status reviews with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Manages project change orders, identifying scope changes, assessing cost and schedule impacts, and obtaining customer approvals.
- Ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Prepares estimates and quantity take-offs from client and in-house designs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.
- Develops and submits quotation letters and responses to RFPs/RFQs/RFIs, following proposal documentation requirements.
- Reviews client-provided drawings and specifications for incorporation into estimates and project plans.
- Communicates and coordinates with sub-trades and internal departments, including project management, purchasing, engineering, drafting, and manufacturing, to ensure alignment on project execution.
- Attends virtual and in-person client meetings as required.
- Ensures compliance with PTW's health and safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Provides leadership to project teams by delegating tasks, ensuring accountability, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Identifies potential risks and proactively develops solutions to address project challenges, maintaining efficient problem-solving strategies.
- Oversees project scheduling, ensuring all milestones and deadlines are met while coordinating resources effectively.
- Manages project budgets, tracking costs, negotiating with vendors, and optimizing financial efficiency.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years experience in commercial construction.
- 2+ years estimating on commercial construction projects.
- Experience in project management is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications quickly and accurately.
- Strong working knowledge of structural codes and specifications.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word.
- Exceptional time management skills; ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks quickly.
- Adaptable with dynamic workloads and changing priorities.
- Thrives well in a busy, deadline-oriented work environment.
- Must be able to take initiative, work independently as well as in a team.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be authorized to work in Canada.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license is required, as facility is not accessible by public transportation.
