Based in 100 Mile House and reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent, the Senior Operations Supervisor will support the Operations Superintendent in ensuring all operations activities meet safety, environmental and legal requirements, and are conducted in a safe and cost-effective manner.

The Senior Operations Supervisor will spend roughly 50% of their time completing operational activities and coordinating harvesting contractors, and approximately 50% of their time supporting the Operations Superintendent in leading several key initiatives and strategic functions, including:

Key initiatives and strategic functions include:
• Providing day-to-day guidance, advice, mentorship and supervision to the Operations Coordinators in the 100 Mile House office, including temporary and summer staff, elevating issues to the Operations Superintendent as required.
• Leadership on major projects such as equipment and trucking rate data collection and summary, and facilitating the waste and residue as well as bush grinding programs.
• Coordinating collection of weekly log flow data from 100 Mile Operations staff.
• Providing Woodlands updates at the weekly mill meetings and the primary point of contact for issues regarding log quality and logyard as required, remote logyard inventory counts.
• Support Operations Superintendent with annual contractor startup and holiday coverage.
• Assist with overall Access Management planning, coordination and implementation.
• Additional strategic priorities and functions to support the departments and broader South Cariboo Woodlands team as identified by the Operations Superintendent

Operational Responsibilities include:
• Responsibility for all aspects of harvesting, road construction and maintenance. This includes monitoring and supervision of logging, road construction/maintenance and log hauling activities, log quality, preparing maps and documentation, implementation of prescriptions, contract administration, data collection, reporting, and budget preparation.
• Additional responsibilities include liaising with First Nations, the government and the public and monitoring contractor compliance with safety and environmental programs.
• Program coordination with other members of the Operations team and Woods Department.

You have:
• A forestry, natural resources, or relevant degree or diploma
• A Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) designation with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC).
• Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills, proven organizational skills, a willingness to learn and undertake new challenges.
• >5-7 years of relevant experience in harvest supervision and coordination, with a demonstrated commitment to safety and responsible forest stewardship.
• Proficiency with various computer and tablet software and apps, including CENGEA (LRM), ArcMap, LIMS and MS Office, will be considered an asset.

Our highly competitive compensation package includes:
• Competitive base salary of $99,600 - $118,300/year with annual bonus opportunity
