We are seeking an Program Coordinator - Indigenous to assist with the successful and smooth transition of Indigenous youth entering a CAREERS internship through one-on-one coaching and worksite readiness. This a temporary, full-time position, until September 30th, 2025.

Applicants must be:

available 40 hours per week

Reside within the Central Alberta region

Job Responsibilities:

The Program Coordinator - Indigenous primary responsibilities will include:

Assist Indigenous youth in resume writing, preparation for interviews, and workplace readiness. This includes presenting to indigenous youth both in rural and urban schools and helping them complete a CAREERS internship application.

Collaborate with school grad coaches and support staff to identify needs and opportunities for youth on nation.

Initiate connections with indigenous employers and organizations to offer youth internships.

Work alongside fellow Program Coordinators, to strategize and execute internship goals.

Consistently enter data, metrics and events into a database and track interactions with students, schools, employers and community.

Follow-up with Indigenous youth and their employers for a smooth transition to work assignments and retention.

Engage with Indigenous communities and their Summer Student programs to assist in placement of students in internships and provide career awareness to their students.

Be active in community support networks with organizations like Friendship Centers and regional employment centers.

Build, foster, nurture relationships with indigenous communities and Metis settlements in and around the surrounding area.

Other projects and duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

Experience or training in education, career counseling or development, Indigenous studies, social work, or similar area.

Skilled in virtual and in-person presentations

Knowledge of Indigenous culture and a commitment to Truth & Reconciliation

The ability to build relationships with youth and employers.

The ability to work independently within a team environment, strategize and seek opportunities that align with goals

Be a self starter with the ability to cold call and research organizations in each community.

Experience working with Indigenous youth, life skills coaching, and/or career counseling is preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including, Outlook, Excel, and Word, Microsoft Teams as well as databases and other digital technologies.

As travel within the region will be expected, a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle are required.

The successful candidate must demonstrate an incident-free Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check.
