General Labourer (Level 1)
The General Labourer supports the site crew in the installation of structural and miscellaneous steel, ensuring the smooth operation of construction activities. This role requires a proactive attitude, physical endurance, and the ability to work in a team environment. Whether working locally, away from home, or floating between different sites, this position is essential to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient worksite.
Reporting to: Site Supervisor
Duties
- Support the crew in preparing and setting up construction sites
- Assist in organizing and locating necessary parts, tools, and materials
- Maintain site cleanliness and safety by ensuring all areas are free of debris
- Take initiative to help other team members as needed, contributing to overall site progress
- Assist with the manual lifting, moving, and positioning of steel components
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, and the worksite is secure
- Willingness to acquire welding tickets for future career development and growth
- Participate in ongoing training to improve trade skills, including learning about rigging, crane operation, and welding techniques
Qualifications
No prior experience in the construction or metal industry required
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required)
Must be willing to learn and develop on-site skills
Strong physical fitness, stamina, and adaptability to perform manual labor in varying conditions
Ability to work at heights safely and efficiently
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and perform manual tasks throughout the day
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Logical thinking and problem-solving ability
Capable of working long hours when necessary
Travel Requirements:
- Local workers: No travel required
- Out-of-town (OOT) workers: Travel is required for jobs located outside the local area, with premium pay for out-of-town assignments.
