The Position
We are seeking a full-time Community House Coordinator to oversee our Community Resource Centre, Family Programs, and Food Program at our new co-located space. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all community members; provides leadership to the staff; and will recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers. The coordinator will respond with a flexible approach to the position and will be capable to perform frontline duties and work directly with participants as well as provide administrative guidance for the programs.

Key Accountabilities
- Identifies and determines, with input from clients, community partners, and others, emerging needs and interests to address, and responds by creating, planning, and coordinating appropriate programs and workshops
- Solicits feedback from clients and coordinates formal evaluation processes initiated by Lift
- Oversees and coordinates the daily overall operations of programming and activities made available to participants
- Facilitates group sessions and workshops, and organizes guest speakers, on a variety of topics
- Coordinates and monitors use of the Centre by community partners and service providers, and resolves issues that may arise
- Distributes weekly gift cards and other food support as they are available i.e. Farmers Market Coupon Program
- Oversees participant wellness checks, care plans, and corresponding referrals; attends Case Management Team meetings as appropriate
- Participates in the development and implementation of internal and external communications plans
- Meets and consults regularly with community partners and Community Advisory Committees to discuss options for program enhancement or improvement
- Oversees facility management
- Approves expenditures within budget; handles petty cash and gift cards according to policy
- Ensures all program and centre activities adhere to Lift policy and safety guidelines, and ensures that appropriate systems, policies and procedures are in place
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelors degree in related field (social work, mental health, community development, health and nutrition) or combination of education, training and experience in lieu of a degree.
- the ideal candidate should be interested in the intersection of locally produced organic food, community development, and human health.
- Experience in staff supervision and support, development and evaluation, and fostering and working within a team environment
- Current knowledge of early human development
- Experience working with birthing parents in the perinatal period an asset
- Experience in community development and knowledge of community development principles
- Experience with building partnerships, project development, team management, planning and presenting promotional events
- Experience in developing and implementing program standards and outcome measurements
- Knowledge of harm reduction strategies and trauma informed practice
- Understanding of Family Resource and Pregnancy Outreach Programs, including principles and activities/services provided
- Familiarity with/knowledge of the qathet region and local community-based services and supports
Working Conditions
- Overdose response including naloxone administration is expected by all staff, training provided
- Current OFA Level 1 required for successful candidates, training provided
- Ability to function calmly and effectively in crisis situation is necessary to be successful in this position
