Scope:
This role is responsible for overseeing the talent acquisition, retention & development areas of HR including recruitment, employee onboarding, performance management, employee relations, recognition, reporting & analytics, and maintaining a positive workplace culture.
The incumbent acts as a bridge between management and employees to facilitate smooth operations and strategic workforce planning awareness of business needs, and an ability to prioritize competing interests.

We are seeking a strategic and compassionate HR Business Partner to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving a positive employee experience and fostering strong relationships across the organization. Duties & Responsibilities:
Business Partner:
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of organizational policies and practices, legal standards and provide coaching to managers to drive consistent management practices.
  • Engage with managers on workforce planning including organization structure, position management, job descriptions and work closely with HR team members to ensure employee movement is processed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Directors and Managers to proactively address any issues impacting performance, morale and makes recommendations for improvement.

Talent Acquisition:
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates.
  • Coach managers to conducting interviews, assess candidates, and making good hiring decisions.
  • Oversee job posting strategy, screening process and applicant tracking systems.

Onboarding and Employee Development:
  • Partner with managers to design robust onboarding plans for new staff.
  • Organize and support CEO orientations sessions with staff.
  • Engage and support managers to create strong development plans for their staff.
  • Collaborate with Manager L&D on learning needs of the organization.
Performance Management:
  • Partner with managers to establish performance goals and metrics.
  • Coach managers to enhance performance reviews and feedback sessions.
  • Implement performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Support management in addressing performance management issues, including application of the collective agreement where applicable.
Employee Relations:
  • Oversee employee relations including coaching management, conducting investigations, writing coaching, disciplinary and termination letters as required.
  • Maintain positive employee morale and engagement.
  • Coach management and staff regarding conflict resolution.
Engagement:
  • Support employee survey roll out, reporting, analysis and recommendations for action plans.
  • Oversee the recognition program including service awards, peer recognition and nomination and selection of awards and management of the recognition platform.
  • Communicate and plan events around days of recognition and observation (i.e. Employee Appreciation Day).

Reporting & Analytics:
  • Collect, report on, and analyze data for pulse and exit interviews.
  • Establish and oversee regular reporting on hiring, turnover, performance metrics, absenteeism, demographics.
  • Analyze data and identify areas for improvement, partnering with HR and managers to drive improvements.
  • Manage contract end dates against program funding, ensuring we always have funding for current staff.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Minimum ten (10) years current and progressively responsible and related generalist experience in Human Resources including Performance Management, Talent Management/Acquisition
  • Demonstrated expertise as an HR advisor, consultant or business partner
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian legislation/labor laws in Ontario
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • High attention to detail, analytical with the ability to identify insights make relevant recommendations
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • Strong planning and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Proficient in HR software and systems in addition to Microsoft Office suite
Education:
  • Completion of a university degree in HR Management, Business Administration, Psychology or Humanities or equivalent experience
  • CHRP and/or CHRL is an asset
We are currently on a hybrid work schedule, working in the office and from home. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change based on business requirements.
