WB MELBACK is currently seeking an Accountant .

The following position willclosely monitor the companys financial health; maintain, manage, and analyze financial statements, payroll, project budgets, tax compliance issues.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

• CPA designation or working towards the designation is considered an asset;
• 5-10 years of experience is ideal however less or relevant experience may be considered
• Experience with Jonas construction or similar accounting software is an asset

DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES:

• Post-secondary education in Accounting;
• An interest in process improvements, automation and implementing other efficiencies;

• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy;

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook);
• Ability to work both independently and as a team to meet month-end reporting deadlines;
• A goal-oriented individual who works toward project completion;

DUTIES:

• Preparation of monthly financial statement review package;
• Monthly review of trial balance and variance analysis.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance to accounting standards and internal control;
• Compile information for internal and external accountant, as required;
• Oversee Bank reconciliation, account reconciliations and accruals.
• Overseeing the Account Payable function, ensuring all expenditures are valid expenses, accurately coded, properly authorized and paid in a timely manner.
• Maintain and improve financial processes and internal controls.
• Mentor financial staff and guide them in improving the financial processes.
• Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and simplification to make the process efficient.
• Implement improved workflow processes and design checklists to ensure compliance with each accounting process.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
