- Direct shipping employees, services and resources to meet customer needs and delivery requirements
- Ensure a safe work environment as top priority, with emphasis on training employees, addressing hazards, conducting investigations and enforcing safety policies, procedures and behaviours
- Ensure the highest levels of product quality, optimization of department efficiencies and shrink / waste reduction
- Supervision of shipping staff including performance management, productivity monitoring/improvement, communication and timely follow up
- Monitor general activities in the Shipping Department including monitoring, tracking and verifying inventory levels and trailer utilization
- Ensure an efficient work flow and that finished goods are moving expeditiously from production lines
- Frequently communicate with internal departments to ensure customer needs and on time delivery requirements are met
- Lead daily communication meetings with shipping staff and address employee concerns
- Ensure all inspections/checklists are completed on a daily basis
- Enforce all Company policies and procedures and administration of the collective agreement
- Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping practices
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent training and experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience in a warehousing or manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership and effective communication skills are a prerequisite with the ability to problem solve and prioritize in a fast paced environment
- Corrugated or paperboard packaging experience considered an asset
- Post-secondary Diploma/Degree in a related field an asset
