Job Description
You are an experienced UX Researcher with a track record of understanding the intricacies of user behavior within complex, enterprise-level platforms. A team-player and devoted champion for the user, you're ready to join forces with a dedicated and passionate design team to ensure the customer is at the heart of every product decision. You're not only an analyst but also a storyteller, able to communicate findings and evangelize research in a way that resonates with stakeholders at all levels. You're also perfectly comfortable throwing together a wireframe if the team is in a bind. You're probably not an expert in Asset Investment Planning, but many of us weren't either when we joined! You're looking for an opportunity where you can leverage your unique expertise to shape the future of UX in a company that values innovation, creativity, data-driven decision-making and customer-centricity.
Responsibilities:
- Own the research roadmap: Work with UX Designers and Product Managers to identify and prioritize research needs across multiple product teams. Manage operations, develop research plans, conduct interviews, facilitate analysis and circulate findings.
- Transition our current practice (ad-hoc, per-project research) into a holistic UX Research engine that sees across individual projects and finds the forest for the trees.
- Integrate within cross-functional teams and develop strong relationships with product managers, tech leads and UX designers.
- Develop strong relationships with SMEs and CABs. Make them feel listened to and help them see the value their input creates in our process.
- Unlock the value from our investment into product analytics. Use user interaction data and in-product feedback to build-out a legitimate Quant practice.
- Use strategic research to shape the long-term product roadmap by elevating the needs, attitudes and behaviors of the businesses who rely on our technology and the people who interact with our platform.
- Evangelize and build trust in UX research while cultivating a more informed, more empathetic organization. Provide updates, present findings and help leadership see the value in customer-centricity.
Qualifications (must-haves):
- 6+ years of experience conducting UX Research [OR] 8+ years experience as a UX Designer, having recently transitioned into Research (with at least one research role.)
- Experience in both quantitative and qualitative methods and a firm understanding of how to combine them to sharpen the picture.
- A natural comfort with taking initiative and proactively reaching out within the organization to find the people in charge and the information you need.
- Skilled presenter, facilitator and a persuasive communicator with a passion for evangelizing UX research. Experience leading workshops, lunch & learns and kick-offs.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage your own time across multiple projects and build a roadmap to inform project planning and scheduling.
- The ability and willingness to put on the UX Designer hat from time to time when the role requires.
- A portfolio in the format of your choice that speaks to who you are and your experience.
Assets (nice-to-haves):
- You have experience working in diverse company environments. You've been hands-on in a startup and have integrated into large enterprise organizations. Your breadth of experience shows adaptability, resilience and an understanding of various business dynamics.
- Your deep background in UX research is accompanied by additional competence in UX design. You're comfortable identifying and producing the output required for each situation – be it a report, journey map, presentation or even a wireframe.
- You have a strong desire to not only work IN the business, but also work ON the business, finding ways to improve processes, tooling and workflows. You can point to your past successes in experimentation and continuous improvement.
- You have experience conducting product-wide UX audits, drawing from both qual. and quant. to support the product team in identifying and prioritizing usability uplifts.
We recognize that talent comes in many forms, so we're looking for passion, enthusiasm and transferable skills.
This is a hybrid role based out of our Vancouver office, but we're open to considering remote candidates as well.
