Job Details
Wage range: Remuneration is fee-for-service, supplemented by on-call and administrative sessional payments.
Primary location: CASA Centre
Union: Exempt
FTE: Up to 0.3 FTE; negotiable.
Status: Permanent

About the Role
The Preschool Day Program provides specialized early childhood mental health care in a small classroom setting. The family and care team work together to support the child's social, emotional, academic and physical development. The program works to strengthen the family's ability to support their child by promoting parent confidence. Children attend the program two full days a week during the school year.
The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist will:
  • Have an interest and skills in assessment, treatment and program development.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, psychologists, therapy support navigators, concurrent counsellors, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists.

Qualifications
  • Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and preferably have subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
  • An interest in education of residents and students is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for an Academic Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry (University of Alberta).

Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • Following the interview process, selected candidates must successfully complete the credentialing process prior to being appointed as a member of the medical staff.
