The firm is looking for a Site Supervisor to join their team.

Job Overview

The role of Site Supervisor is a new full-time position in the company. As a full-service architecture, interior design, and construction studio, we are looking to expand our capabilities by bringing on a professional to carry out the duties below. This unique position will offer the opportunity to collaborate with our internal architects and interior designers during the design process through to the completion of construction.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a post-secondary education construction training program
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred. Background in carpentry is an asset.
  • 10+ years of experience in the construction of high-end residential homes. Experience in other building types is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading and managing site progress from construction to completion
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong leadership and time management skills
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods and techniques associated with all trades and suppliers
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety requirements and relevant provincial and federal legislation
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Zoning By-Laws, and construction safety regulations
  • Working knowledge of construction tools and equipment
  • Highly skilled in interpreting blueprints
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to maintaining Audax culture and fostering teamwork

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Construction in leading construction projects from initial concept through to completion
  • Liaise and report to the Director of Construction and Construction Project Manager to coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within the specified scope, budget, and schedule
  • Manage the opening and closing of the construction site each day, overseeing the full spectrum of activities from start to finish
  • Oversee and meticulously document all site operations, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of all activities on site (arrivals, changes, site instructions, requests for information, etc.)
  • Monitor the quality of work and set the highest standards for all project team members
  • Facilitate communication and address issues and/or potential risks that may affect the project budget and/or schedule
  • Provide and implement solutions to resolve any issues and/or potential risks
  • Coordinate work and schedules of all subcontractors, suppliers, and trades
  • Maintain a clean worksite and ensure that all those working onsite do so in a professional manner
  • Inspect construction sites regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards
  • Educate site workers on construction safety regulations and accident protocol
  • Enforce site safety rules to minimize work-related accidents and injuries
  • Work with the safety consultant and Director of Construction regarding monitoring and reacting to hazards / site accidents in accordance with established accident protocol
  • Analyze blueprints to ensure that construction projects meet design, safety, and budget specifications
  • Recommend changes or procedures to management to increase efficiency and implement cost-savings
  • Provide basic tools
  • Provide general labor as needed
  • Embody Audax's mission statement and serve as an advocate for Human Architecture in all work aspects
