Therapist Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) Program/Minookmii Stream

Job Status: Contract Until April 2026

Hours of work: 35 per week

Base office: Parry Sound (with potential for some virtual service from a home office)

Purpose of the Position:

The primary focus of this position is to provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) among other modalities to adult Indigenous clients (18+) who are experiencing conditions such as:

depression and low mood

generalized anxiety and worry

health anxiety

obsessive-compulsive concerns

other anxiety and stress-related problems

posttraumatic stress

social anxiety and performance fears

specific fears

unexpected panic attacks and agoraphobic fears

As a Minookmii Therapist, you will integrate Indigenous perspectives and culturally safe practices. This may involve collaborating with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, consultantsand local community partners to offer wholistic, strengths-based care.

You will also engage with local First Nations communities to build awareness of the Minookmii Program, including pathways for referral. Provide education sessions, facilitate discussions, and foster collaborative relationships to ensure Indigenous community members can easily access the program

Education and Qualifications:

  • Desire to serve Indigenous clients and engage with communities in Parry Sound.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide Indigenous culturally competent care, trauma-informed care, or a willingness to learn and apply such approaches.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) training is provided but previous training and experience is an asset.
  • Must be eligible to provide psychotherapy and in good standing with a relevant regulatory college (e.g., RN, RSW, OT, RP).
  • Preference will be given to those with an experience delivering CBT.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of psychotherapeutic and assessment techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of diagnostic categories and criteria as listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and flexibility.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as cooperatively within a team environment in a rural setting.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, the Internet, and data management software.
  • A valid Ontario G or G2 drivers license and a safe, reliable means of transportation.
  • Proficiency in or familiarity with an Indigenous language considered an asset. Bilingual in French/English is also an asset.
  • Work schedule may include days/evenings/weekends and statutory holidays.

Major Responsibilities:

Conduct assessments (e.g., PHQ-9, GAD-7) to inform individualized treatment plans.

Provide individual, evidence-based CBT treatment through structured protocols, tailored to Indigenous clients.

Facilitate group CBT utilizing evidence-based approaches, as needed.

Integrate Indigenous ways of knowing by collaborating with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, ensuring cultural safety and relevance in service delivery.

Participate in clinical consultation, meetings, and training arranged through Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports.

Collaborate with team members to ensure quality care and overall delivery of the OSP Minookmii program.

Contribute to program development and evaluation, including data collection for outcome measurements.

Salary scale: $35.90-$44.26 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Benefits: Optional enrolment in Registered Retirement Plan with HOOPP where contributions start on date of hire.
