Fitness Instructor

Town of Tillsonburg is looking for an enthusiastic Fitness Instructor to join our busy Tillsonburg Community Center team. The successful candidate will provide group fitness instruction, educate patrons on fitness and safety and maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants.

This is a permanent part-time position with an option to enroll in OMERS defined pension plan.

Hourly Rate: $24.99 - $29.23/hour
Weekly hours: up to 20 *no guarantee

Responsibilities

• Basic knowledge of the anatomy of the body and training principals
• Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, cueing technique and rhythm
• Prepares appropriate equipment and music for each class
• Keep current on the latest fitness trends
• Teaches scheduled classes
• Provides adequate warm up, exercises, stretching and cool down
• Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed
• Ensure all safety standards are met
• Promotes the Health Club and other Fitness programs in the Community Centre
• Ability to motivate class participants
• Able to give generalized advice about healthy living and proper nutrition
• Attend all staff training sessions and staff meetings
• Report all accidents/incidents, problems or concerns.
• Reports weekly Fitness class attendance numbers
• Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

• Certified Fitness Instructor (Canfitpro FIS, YMCA, or equivalent)
• Standard First Aid
• 3 years Instruction Experience
