CAREERS: The Next Generationis a unique, non-profit organization raising youth awareness of career options and helping students earn while they learn through internship. We partner with government, educators, communities, industry,parents, and students to introduce youth to rewarding careers and develop the skilled workers of the future.

In addition to supporting high school students in their career exploration, CAREERS runs a U21 program. This initiative has been developed for young Albertans who have successfully graduated from high school and are under 21 years of age. The intent of the program is to connect youth with employers for paid internships in the skilled trades, agriculture, and forestry.The U21 program offers an opportunity to earn money and develop workplace skills while exploring rewarding career pathways.

Reporting to the Director of Programs and Development, the Program Coordinator U21 Youth Engagement is responsible for sharing U21 program information, engaging youth who are interested in learning more, helping those who pursue the program to apply, and ensuring a smooth transition of these youth to the Operations Program Coordinators who will connect them to internship opportunities. Administrative support will provide during virtual presentation and on-going program data collection.

Responsibilities:

Act as the first point of contact for youth who are interested in CAREERS U21 Program.

Assist and occasionally host the evening virtual U21 information sessions

Pre-screen registrations to ensure fit for program.

Use the established formal tracking process to support accurate data collection and analysis of the program.

Organize and monitor event registrations on a regular basis.

Provide clear and time sensitive communication to youth who are actively participating in the program.

Actively collect application documentation and effectively pass candidates to regional Program Coordinators after initial on-boarding documents have been approved.

Provide self-guided supports and, at times, direct coaching for youth as required.

Support the Director of Programs to ensure system enhancements, and automations are developed to streamline communication with youth and simplify overall process.

Facilitate internship check-ins with program youth.

Education & Experience

Related post-secondary education.

Experience giving both in-person and virtual presentations in front of 30 or more people.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and customer relationship management softwareand cloud-based technologies.

Criminal and Child Welfare checks indicating no record of convictions and no intervention service records are required.

Active in community engagement or community volunteerism is considered an asset.

Understanding of apprenticeship in Alberta is considers an asset.

Familiarity with Salesforce is considered an asset.

Additional Information

This role offers a temporary position with a term until September 30, 2025, and a possibility of an extension.

20 hours/week with some evening work
