Salary:

The Prep Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation of food for the hotel's kitchen. The role involves preparing ingredients, assembling dishes, and ensuring cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. The Prep Cook works closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth food preparation and delivery in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and chop ingredients according to recipes or instructions from chefs.
  • Ensure all food is prepped and ready for cooking or assembly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including washing, cutting, and storing ingredients.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Assist in portion control and quality checks of prepped ingredients.
  • Monitor inventory and report shortages or discrepancies.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring they are cleaned and stored properly.
  • Assist with food presentation as required.
  • Communicate with chefs and kitchen staff regarding prep needs and orders.
  • Help with kitchen organization, including storage and labeling of ingredients.
  • Assist in food prep for events, room service, and restaurant menus.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in food preparation, ideally in the hotel or restaurant industry.
  • Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment and techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to stand and walk repeatedly over the course of a shift
  • Ability to tolerate exposures to heat, cold and water
  • Ability to work in a noisy and distracting environment.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, there may be stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching and crouching
  • Regularly exposed to, including but not limited to, hazardous situations and conditions that produce cuts or minor burns.
