Job Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for all post-sales activities related to complex sizing requirements or projects that have transitioned from the acquisition stage. The Project Engineer participates in customer interactions, resolves customer service issues, follows-up on quotation request activities, and uses an understanding of the customer applications and requirements to deliver custom valve solutions while meeting or exceeding customer service excellence goals. Reporting to the Vice-President of Engineering, the Project Engineer is focused on delivering a project package and collaborating with the sales team to the customer to give us the best chance of success in a project. This means following the project guidelines to meet SAMSON project standards while selecting the correct product for the specific application. In this role, the Project Engineer also communicates and collaborates with internal team members and sales partners to support the sales channel that operates throughout Canada.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide Customer Service Excellence:

Communicate and pro-actively with customers and sales partners together with the Sales Team (engineering/sales/purchasing/logistics)

Provide technical support in the form of documentation, drawings, customer training, troubleshooting, and site visits and demonstrations if required.

Support after-sales activities: follow-ups, return/repair inquiries and troubleshooting

Coordinate presentations and other communications with The Regional Sales Managers for partners and customers.

Support Regional Sales Managers with technical aspects when needed

Project Organization:

Use the SAMSON sizing software to properly specify the solution to meet the customer requirements

Read and understand the customer specification sheets

Read and understand terms and conditions and take exceptions in high-risk scenarios, where required

Seek clarity from customers as required

Interact with our European manufacturing facilities for delivery, pricing and engineering-related clarifications

Manage the project life cycle through the Project Manager software package

Schedule quotation follow-up activities for the Regional Sales Manager

Interact with the VP of Engineering, VP of Sales & Marketing and President/CEO for pricing and strategy on each project

Interact with Corporate Controlling on financial risk management

Conduct project milestone meetings

Conduct project closeout meetings

Manage project life cycles between 6 weeks and 2 years

Manage and consolidate damage claims, and mitigate risk to the company

Lead risk management assessment for all projects

Other Duties:

Comply with OHSA, company policies and procedures, and safety practices to ensure the safety of every worker performing on duty to SAMSON

Adhere to SAMSONs Quality standards

Participate in all company required training

Other duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience in Industrial or Process Automation projects (2+ years)

Knowledge of and ability to utilize a CRM with all customer interactions

Knowledge of how to and ability to manage projects using milestones and quality gates

Ability to interpret P&ID drawings and consult with customers for best practices

Understanding of metallurgy and material codes is an asset

Knowledge of and ability to use an engineering sizing program related to process automation is an asset

Any knowledge of Process Control Industry Equipment and Fluid Dynamics principles would be an asset

Experience managing complex supply chains to meet project timelines and deliveries

Advanced oral and written communication in English (French is an asset)

Strong Customer Service orientation and skills

Problem-solving skills and adaptability to deal with conflicts, setbacks and change

Detail-oriented person with analytical ability and listening skills and an innovative problem-solver

Strong presentation skills

Strong MS Office knowledge and computer skills

Ability to work in a team environment

Strong organizational skills to deal with occasional heavy workloads and multi-tasking

Required Education:

Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma from an accredited college or university in Process Control or Engineering, or equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education

P.Eng. or EIT is an asset

Description of the Work Environment:

Office, as well as potential, but infrequent, visits to customer facilities

Amount of Travel:

Less than 5% within Canada

Work Schedule:

8:30am to 5:00pm
