Summary of Duties
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing the day-to-day warehousing activities of the Food Bank services. This includes logistics, inventory management and coordination of distribution activities. Ensures the warehouse operates at peak efficiency with customer satisfaction as the primary goal by supervising, organizing, and training warehouse employees / volunteers and establishing, monitoring, and managing operational goals. Most work occurs during regular business hours. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. The Warehouse Manager may work offsite when collaborating with community partners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise daily warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, transporting, and customer service.
- Schedule and oversee the warehouse team and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency.
- Review and prepare workflows, staffing requirements, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service
- Train and manage the warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
- Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance when necessary
- Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory, gate processes, and shipping methods
- Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to customers and company facilities, communicating with warehouse staff and community partners to ensure efficient delivery of goods.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with legal regulations
- Coordinate with donors, vendors or suppliers to ensure timely and efficient handling and transporting of goods
- Collaborate with other organizational staff to ensure that services are responsive to the needs of the people served
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- A minimum post-secondary diploma in a field related to supply chain management, food Security or related areas.
- A minimum of three years of experience in program coordination / supervising staff.
- One or more years of experience in a warehouse role managing employees
- License to operate a forklift
- First Aid certificate, clear criminal record check and access to reliable vehicle required.
- Proficiency with warehouse procedures and policies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities
- Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of organizational staff
- Ability to deliver effective feedback, both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively with individuals/families, volunteers, other service providers including contractors, community partners and other stakeholders related to food security projects.
- Demonstrated strong leadership, instructional, written and oral skills.
- Strong computer skills.
Physical Requirements
- The ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Bending and lifting boxes up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Exposure to ambient temperatures and noisy conditions.
