Track Inspectors with Cando are responsible for monitoring tracks for defects and maintaining safe operating conditions. Track Inspectors ensure safety is a high priority at all times and procedures are respected and followed as per CROR and Track Inspection Guidelines (TIGS) regulations
Roles & Responsibilities
- Inspect tracks for defects; coordinate necessary repairs so that tracks meet safety operating standards
- Complete minor track repairs as necessary
- Use track tools safely and efficiently
- Participate in daily job briefings
- Maintain necessary journals, fuel reports and maintenance documents as required by the Department; properly complete daily paperwork and submit accordingly
- Build relationships with the customer; interface in a proper and professional manner with the customer via phone, radio, or in person
- Advise when services are needed on truck or equipment; perform daily maintenance on equipment
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Able to work as a team player and/or independently as required
- Be physically fit with the ability to walk extended lengths on uneven terrain
- Understand, record, and apply oral and written instructions; document work activities, and prepare required reports or work orders
- Willingness to adapt to new technological changes and improvements and participate in training and self-development programs; track and document training and attain required signatures for training completion
- Ability to work throughout Canada for extended periods of time; work long hours in extreme conditions harsh from weather and in isolated locations
Education & Experience
- Hold and maintain RAC Inspector certification, CROR, eRailsafe, First Aid/CPR certifications, and any additional certifications required at customer sites
- Track inspection/rail experience is an asset
- Microsoft office, excel, SharePoint and outlook
- Pass and maintain clear drug and alcohol testing
- Hold and maintain a valid driver's license
