West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our Cochrane division in Cochrane, Alberta, is recruiting a Maintenance Supervisor.

As a management team member, you will report directly to the Maintenance Superintendent. Your responsibilities include supervising a high-performing electrical crew to provide safe and efficient services to the division.

You'll Do:

  • Ensure a safe work environment for the Maintenance department by enforcing safe work practices, supporting company policies, performing observations and safety audits, investigating incidents, and ensuring proper training and adherence to electrical & mechanical best practices
  • Supervise a shift of various maintenance employees on either an 8-on,6-off shift or a weekend shift. Shifting will be based on division needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Purchasing departments to effectively maintain mill equipment
  • Manage, schedule, and supervise crews, including work orders, priorities, and breakdowns across the site with the focus on improving uptime, grade, and recovery
  • Manage major maintenance and capital projects
  • Manage contractors on site
  • Understand employee's skills and identify training opportunities to develop them
  • Work with reliability & maintenance planning to coordinate preventative and predictive maintenance programs to drive machine center uptimes

You have:

  • Certified Trades Person or Minimum 4th Year Apprentice
  • A strong electrical or mechanical background knowledge and familiarity with manufacturing equipment
  • Experience in decision-making with proven troubleshooting skills
  • 5-8 years of experience is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Innovative supervisory & mentorship skills
  • Ability to function independently
  • Experience promoting a team culture with well-established organizational skills
  • Experience in maintenance and a demonstrated passion for electrical systems
  • Experience in an electrical and maintenance industrial environment
  • Ability to think outside the box with strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office, CMMS systems
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience and qualifications in the forest industry

Compensation Package:

  • The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location.
