Position Title: Manager, Construction

Reporting directly to the Vice President, Construction and Engineering, or their designate from time to time, the Manager, Construction is a site-based position that leads the delivery of safe and efficient execution of construction activities while regularly collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams both at the Eskay Creek Site and Vancouver Corporate Office. The Manager, Construction will enable the performance of safe and efficient field activities by a team of employees, contractors, and consultants at the Eskay Creek Site through out varying and challenging weather conditions . The role will be a mix of field-based monitoring and planning as well as site-office based administrative, reporting, scheduling and budgeting duties - but field presence is a large component of the role and should be considered when applying.

Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

Manage and lead the construction activities at the Eskay Creek Site, including processing plants, tailings management facilities, camp accommodations, and access roads.
Develop and implement construction schedules, ensuring alignment with project timelines and milestones.
Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to construction teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
Ensure that all construction activities adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Regularly interact with leadership at site and at the Vancouver corporate office to coordinate resources and materials, including people resources, equipment, and supplies, to meet project goals.
Establish and manage budgets for construction activities, tracking expenses and minimizing cost overruns.
Monitor and report progress to senior management and stakeholders on project status, including timelines, costs, and potential risks.
Manage the overall relationships with Skeena employees and contractors, consultants, and various stakeholders. 
Ensure that all aspects of the Project implementation adhere to Skeena policies, procedures, Health & Safety, Environment
and Community standards.
Align and demonstrate Skeena values of safety and sustainability 

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
Extensive experience in overseeing large-scale construction projects, preferably in remote or challenging environments.

Experience / Skills:

Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in the heavy industry, preferably mining, with at least 5-7 years in a senior engineering leadership role, ideally in a New Build Construction environment
Strong computer skills using MS office suite is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Has consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills 
Must possess very strong attention to detail.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently as needed

Work Location and Conditions

This is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy.

There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
