About the Opportunity

The Countering Antisemitism & Hate team is committed to ensuring every Jew can play a meaningful role in keeping Canada a secure home for Jews - and a country in which Jews remain leading voices in society. The team does this by building a communitywide strategy for combating antisemitism and hate in all forms.

Reporting to the Vice President, Countering Antisemitism & Hate, were seeking a Director, Countering Antisemitism & Hate to champion and drive this vision forward along with a team of professionals and volunteer leaders. This role is pivotal in driving strategic initiatives that push antisemitism to the fringes of society. Working closely with the Vice President, the Director will oversee the teams that ensure the development and execution of impactful programs aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Recruit, motivate, develop and retain talent to deliver impactful results; champion a flexible, agile and inclusive work environment, prioritizing health and well-being of team

Organize and support working committees of volunteer leaders dedicated to each priority area: Activism, Accountability, Research, Post-Secondary Education, and Allies

Collaborate with the Vice President, professional staff and working committees of volunteer leaders to develop and refine strategies to combat antisemitism and hate, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives

Partner with committee chairs to establish goals and objectives to advance their mandates

Lead the team in setting and achieving measurable goals and action plans to advance the five key priorities

Ensure integration and alignment of committee work across all priority areas

Establish metrics and frameworks to assess the impact of initiatives and ensure accountability

Oversee the development of metrics, reports, dashboards, etc. that document progress and highlight areas for improvement

Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree in a relevant field (e.g., Political Science, Sociology, Human Rights, Public Policy), or equivalent experience

7+ years of progressive leadership experience in advocacy, community engagement, or human rights-focused roles

Proven ability to manage teams and lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives

Strong understanding of antisemitism and hate, including social and political dimensions

Resilient and adaptive, with the ability to navigate complex challenges.

Proactive with excellent organizational, prioritizing and time-management skills

Demonstrated ability to build rapport and sustain relationships with colleagues, lay leaders, and other stakeholders

Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results

Strategic and critical thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans

Exceptional presentation skills

Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail

Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality

Familiarity with non-profits, the Toronto Jewish community and/or experience in Jewish Communal Service considered an asset

Alignment with the mission, values, and goals of the organization

* This is a full-time permanent position. As UJA currently operates on a hybrid basis, the successful candidate for this role is expected to work from the office on [Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday] or [Monday, Wednesday and Thursday]. Please note that UJAs offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
